* stretch stretch * Gah! Had a nice break! Went to the beach, caught some fish, got serious leg sunburn but all in all had a fantastic weekend XD It was coupled with the news of a job for me, a marriage for my sister and a great birthday for my mum! So I’ve been surfing a high!! Onwards though – to art and beyond!

Haven’t even touched Goliath yet so it’s under the carpet somewhat. Only new work is some ‘Daily Sketch Group’ sketches which I took part in on http://www.conceptart.org:

DSG 1540: Seasonal • PITIFUL, SHACKLED, DUNGEON-BEAST’S HEART GLOWS THROUGH ITS CHEST:

DSG 1540

Eagh! Poor thing… >_< Oh wait… Aww DANG! I forgot to flip the pic back around again DX Er… um… yeah… this particular creature has a heart on the right of its chest. It’s just this particular one >_>……. totally…

DSG 1542: Characters • BEEFY SCARY BIPED IN RAGE POSE & ITS CUTE SMILING LITTLE BUDDY

I think for this I should have added more ‘sound effects’ to make it work better ^_^;; Ah well, learnt for next time!

Working on some other projects on the side but need to know whether I can put works online for them or not XD

Finally finished! W00T! I hate to think what the total number of objects are in this image haha. And in the end the Adobe Illustrator file was only 21.7MB… 21.7MBs!!!!! Amazing!

Woah… brain dead… but anyway XD.

Got a quick update on the Paradise pic. Some added skin toning and a random snot coloured blob 8D Woo!

Para-C

It takes a lot of object adjusting and moving to get a shaded skin tone to start showing through. A combination of feathering, gradienting and object style blending. It’s a lot more hands on than photoshop. I’m surprised by the file size though. Usually I’m working in photoshop files that are hundreds of MBs and sometime in the GBs but so far this image isn’t even in the 20s yet.  Pretty cool =)

Okay, time for bed. I came across this awesome vector hair tutorial earlier this week… will have to relocate it for the next post haha.

I’ve had to put Goliath on hold as I’m working on a submission for a job! *fingers crossed*

The requirements are to create a panel themed as tropical including a woman and called “Paradise”. Thing is to do it in Illustrator with vectors only. Here’s the base sketch I’ve worked up for it:

I’ve got to make it as realistic as possible. A first time full realism attempt in Illustrator 8D Time to learn new things!

Quick update~ been busy as a bee today =)

Found a great ref photo for bg! This will be the first ‘grays first’ image I’ve made with a background planned from near the beginning haha. Exciting stuff!!

And I worked out how to make it so you can click on the pic for a slightly bigger version since the whole 500px width limit doesn’t help in a landscape image har har

*flees the scene*
